Video Transcript - Tips for Selling Crystals

"I'm going to share 10 things I learned over the last two years of selling crystals on Etsy. So much has changed since I first launched back in July of 2019, and my Etsy shop has grown a lot. I'll share some tips and things I've learned over the past two years with all of you, hoping it'll help you grow your Etsy shop. In the past two years, I've tripled my sales, brought in over 60,000 web hits a month, and implemented various strategies to increase sales. So, let's get started!

Tips for Selling Crystals: number one is adding videos to all of your listings. Video content is the future of social media, and Etsy, while considered a marketplace, is also a platform for social media. This fact is proven by Etsy, which highly recommends adding videos to each of your listings to showcase the product in real life. I started doing this back in July, and it has drastically increased my sales. After taking photos of all the crystals, I take a quick 15-second video. It doesn't take very long and is 100% worth it.

However, you can't add them directly through the app; you have to use a computer. This extra step is worth it, especially if it helps you increase sales and ensures the buyer gets exactly what they want.

Tips for Selling Crystals number two is adding international shipping. No international shipping on Etsy can be really scary. I didn't add it for the longest time because I didn't know how to offset the prices, make it work, and was scared of making mistakes. I started implementing this in June 2021, and it has definitely helped increase my sales. My customers who spend the most money are from outside the United States, making the shipping worth it.

Etsy doesn't have the cheapest international shipping, so I highly recommend using PirateShip.com. They offer special international rates; you just have to request access, and you get it instantly. Adding international shipping takes research on pricing, weight, and destination, but it is 100% worth it. Download my SA Shipping Guide for tips and tricks on domestic and international shipping. I'm also working on an international shipping guide, so keep an eye out for that.

Tips for Selling Crystals number three is posting on Etsy as often as you can. Even if it means just posting a few times a day, it will help you show up in the algorithm. Etsy favors those who frequently update their shop by adding new listings, updating existing listings, or adding more items.

You don't have to do this daily or even weekly, but you should definitely do it several times a month. For example, when I was moving across the country, I didn't post for three weeks straight. I didn't put my shop on vacation mode and just let sales roll in. I was still able to meet my sales goal but had slower sales compared to when I post weekly. So, I highly recommend posting at least 5 to 10 new items every week. If you can, try to post 1 to 3 items a day.

Tips for Selling Crystals number four is to make sure your Etsy shop is fully filled out. This means having a profile picture, a banner, a fully filled-out shop policy, an About Me section, a title, and a header. Make sure you have at least 50 listings in your shop and shop categories. Use all 10 of the photos available for each listing.

Etsy does not favor shops that are not fully set up. Many beginners rush to open their shop and forget these critical steps. Take your time writing your shop policies because they are crucial for customer service. Make sure you have at least 50 listings before opening up, as it helps in the algorithm and makes your shop look fuller.

Tips for Selling Crystals number five is to reward customers by offering free shipping on orders over $35. This helps you show up in the algorithm and promotes your products for free. I've been doing this since day one, and it definitely helps my shop appear in marketing emails and other features on Etsy. If you're unsure how to price appropriately for free shipping, download my SR-101 Shipping Guide from my Etsy shop.

Tips for Selling Crystals number six is that social media is key. Do not rely on Etsy alone. While Etsy drives a significant amount of traffic, you cannot rely solely on it, especially when starting. Market your shop on social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, and YouTube. The more you post, the more you show up, the more people find you, and the more sales you get.

Use at least three social media platforms to drive traffic to your Etsy shop, so you don't have to rely solely on Etsy's SEO, which can be confusing. Posting frequently on social media platforms increases your visibility and sales.

Tips for Selling Crystals number seven is to enhance your titles, descriptions, tags, and keywords. What's more appealing: "rose quartz sphere" or "beautiful rose quartz sphere with star flash from Brazil"? Probably the second one, right?

Beefing up your listing descriptions with accurate and true statements makes them more appealing and helps increase sales. Use all the tags and material tags available to help your listings show up in searches.

Tips for Selling Crystals number eight is to price appropriately. Many Etsy shops underprice their crystals based on other shops' prices. Do not do this. Price based on what you paid, not what others are charging. Copying others' prices can kill your shop, as it may not be financially sustainable in the long run.

Develop a pricing strategy that works for you and stick to it. If you need help, sign up for my Patreon, where we discuss pricing strategies and more.

Tips for Selling Crystals number nine is to have patience. Overnight success is not a thing, especially in the crystal-selling industry. You see one-minute clips of shops with hundreds of orders, but behind that is hours of hard work, late nights, stress, and anxiety. Most of the money made gets reinvested back into the shop.

It took me two and a half years to start paying myself the wage I wanted. Success takes time, and the crystal industry is not a get-rich-quick scheme. You need patience, financial strategy, and a lot of hard work.

Tips for Selling Crystals number ten is to have a strategy. Many people open shops without any strategy, leading to mistakes and panic. The reality is that most businesses fail within the first five years due to a lack of strategy, budget, growth, and goals.

Before opening your business, write down your plans and strategies. Having a documented strategy helps you measure growth, make profits, and plan for the future. You need to develop your own business strategy, as copying someone else's won't work for you.

Thank you so much for watching!"
